This Old Testament "Law" (intended for Israel) is being preached by leaders as a means to finance their lavish lifestyle- which otherwise could be unattainable from a 9-5 job! Church, the Lord has raised me up for such a time as this to set the "Captives" free and to open the "Eyes" of the "Blind!" "He who the Son sets free is free indeed!" True prosperity from the Lord, does not come by way of "Deception!" Giving is from the "HEART!" If you have the Holy Spirit on the inside of you "He will bare witness to the Truth" of what I'm saying-If you don't have the Holy Spirit then "Consider what I say and the lord God give thee understanding in all things!" 2Timothy 2:7 In All Thy Getting Get Understanding! 08-19-2008, 1:21 PM Eugene777 Joined on 08-19-2008 Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States Posts 7 Re: Tithes And The Church (AMust Read For Every Believer)!!! you are right tithing is an old covent practice and is not a requirement for Christians, Abraham did not give the tithe because of a dept he had to pay but was a act of honer and faith for Gods faithfulness and support but the new testiment mention many times to give and thruogh the church leadership, but this a volenteer action for the church, consider the parable of the talents money was used to expose the heart by there attitude and actions, but even the third servant the master said even if you would have invested it so that it would have gained interest but you buried it in dept homes nice cars, nice clothing, entertainment, statuse, even in the old testiment when moses gave us the requirement of the tithe and gilfts He say's with your abundance when ever possible if your brother is a slave or in dept you help your brother and pay that dept for freedome. it is our right not to pay tithes or gifts but becareful that by excerizing your right that you don't condem yourself, consider Paul said for us to be careful that if we don't produce good fruit how easy it would be to remove the ingrafted branch an replace it with the original branch, remeber God is no fool, splitting hairs with the pharacees and the teachers of the law could very easly cause you to miss the highest calling of God amen    Report

Thank you!  This is an extremely enlightening conversation, one that I have had with many.  I have always believed that Tithing comes in the form of "giving" whether it be money or chothes or anything someone needs.  I do give to whatever Church I go to, in teh offereing plate as I know they might need it too.  But I remember watching my Dad, with seven children, and as a Deacon in the church, struggle to "pay" to the church, with his name on the envelope and the check.  I know that because he was a Deacon the church held him accountable for that monthly tithe.  It was painful because I know we couldn't afford it.  I, and my husband have been truly Blessed when it comes to finances...it has come with struggles and hard work and LESSONS but always with God's rewards.  I know thateverything we have today is from God and I am so grateful for it.  But, I do want to be sure that we are tithing in the right way.  I don't feel I'm obligated to give to others...I enjoy giving and the enjoyment in itself gives me great satisfaction and makes me happy.     Report

The book of Acts teaches us that the only division between the saints is the city where they lived. That the church is the body of Christ and is an organic body not an institutional body and was bought with the price of His preciours blood. Thank you Lord Jesus for the price you paid for us. Thank you for your inconditional love. Thank you for loving mankind so much. Thank you to make us your children when we belive and thank you to gives us the faith to belive in you. I now that is the time where our Lord Jesus is setting up the stage for the unity of His Church.    Report
