This subject has always been a touchy one. Race relations has improved alot but their are several issues that still linger. The election 2008 has proven that. It quite obvious that some individuals cannot accept the fact that a man of color has been choosen. Was it sad to me is, some people keep focusing on color and race. Not accepting the fact that the first of all this is GOD's will, the people ELECTED the next president and to clarify it even more he is mulatto, educated, intelligent, and well-spoken. Our president elect is of black and white heritage, yes he is considered Black because of his father but please do not deny his mother. I have heard several news reports and read alot of articles which questions our next presidents ability. I do not recall any other president being put on the HOT SEAT ! The changes during this election such as you could not wear button or shirts displaying who you were voting was ridiculous and violating freedom of speech. No other election was conduct in this manner. I voted for Clinton and in my opinion was a great leader, but this did not occur until a man of color decided to run and rules changes....So I ask you, who is reading this on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate race relations today?
What I have come to understand that racism is never going to go away. I have heard and seen more negative reactions than ever before than any other election since I have old enough to understand politics. The bottom line is our newly Elected President did not cause this mess that has occurred in our nation today. So therefore people who are intelligent should know that our nation will not over come this tradegy over night not ever 1-5 yrs. It took 8 yrs again from the same individuals cut from the same cloth to cause this unroar in our county as we see it today. Gettig the issues and problems under control is a start...
The two Bush administrations has torn this county down to dust not dirt but dust. Becasuse people have realized this and come to understand that something has to change. Running the county is not a black or white persons job. The problems that exist today has effected many white, off-white, black, yellow and brown households. The improvement I see in race relations today is that people are slowing coming around and realizing that we are a rainbow of colors.
Today we are able to sit down and discuss isuses in a peaceful manner, versus years ago if you were a person of color and different orgins/ethic background other than pure white/anglo saxon; your thoughts and opinions did amount to a size of a pea. I even look abroad and other countries are still feuding because of different ethics backgrounds.
God still has work to do when it come to race relations. I will say that certain ethic groups have come along way in this county:Blacks, Hispanics and American Indians. I guess to simply my answer; race relations have come along way compare to what they use to be......
