01-12-2009, 9:47 AM setmyspiritfree Joined on 10-21-2008 Posts 5 Did you vote? When I turned 18 my dad asked me if I registered to vote. At that time I had not. In fact it was quite a few years later that I actually began to vote. The memory of that question stayed with me until I did register. Not long ago I recieved some information from a family member of our families ancestors. They were the first people in an unsettled area and broke open the prairie to farm they also helped get the railroad to their town to have an outlet for that which they produced. Going back two more generations from them were ancestors who had come from Europe as endentured servants not free men with a right to vote. So my answer is yes! Everyone should vote, Christian and non-Christian as well. I was in Spain in 1976 when Franco died and Spain was going to have a vote for the first time in I believe 40 years. The young people (college age) were holding demonstrations and viewed as rioters. The police force came out in full riot gear to disperse them. They were demonstrating because they had something to say. We here in the US have the freedom to speak out. Voting gives us that opportunity.    Report

I asked my mother who is 72 years old and a pentecostal minister did she vote and she said "no, I prayed for him" she said she knew President Obama would win, that it was his time and so she just prayed for him. I told her it was alright because I had went, my brother and I encouraged my three sons, who also voted. Now that we have a new president and much work to do, I will do what my mother did.
