Have you ever saw on the news where a little child has wandered off into the woods, and they have to dispatch search teams to rescue him or her? Or maybe a group of guys decide to go hunting, but along the way discover that they've gotten off course, and consequently, search efforts must be pursued with hopes of rescuing the lost persons.
So many people have headed out to sea with good intentions of having a great fishing trip, but end up drifting too far left, or too far right, and eventually get entangled up in a storm which causes the sea to consume them. Very unfortunate, but it's a pretty common thing, if you get my drift.
In many cases our parents raise us up in the church, or we have just simply a pretty decent upbringing, and then we find many things in life, such as drinking, drugs, sex, gangs, and all other sorts of things that attract us like a magnet, and sometimes we have to be rescue from being consumed up by the worldly things.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." -Romans 12:2
Believe it or not, if you want to make the devil proud, just keep having worldly fun, "living it up", living like tomorrow is promised, not pursuing God's business... He will get you just a little too far left, and then the rescue team won't be able to reach you... (If you get my drift again) You will find that the search efforts have been "called off." You will be left out in the wilderness, being fresh prey for the buzzards and wild animals (demons) to engulf you.
By the way, the word engulf means to "swallow up completely." That means that you won't be like Jonah, being swallowed up by a whale and then spit back out. You will be swallowed up and digested, meaning that your soul will be headed to the destination of which the devil has planned for you. (Burning Hell)
(This is what it means to wander off or meander --- To move aimlessly and idly without fixed direction)
In short, this means that he has won your soul because you wandered off too far away from God. Sometimes we are so caught into everything else and don't realize that there is a battle between good and evil over your soul.
Let me share a personal encounter with the devil while I was in "Wander Land"...
I had been drinking and I stopped at a hotel to use the restroom. A mentally challenged guy came in and started looking into the mirror screaming... "I wanna kill you, I hate you" repeatedly.
A demon was speaking through him to me. I know it was directed towards me because the devil will use people to get his messege across and the guy didn't even know that I was in there. It was apparent that the devil was after my soul.
Next point...
The devil makes things looks so enticing and before we know it... We bite the hook that he put out there for us and he reels us in like little helpless fish...
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10
I remember
His (The Devil) whole pursue is to see you die in sin, so that he can have more skin-burning running buddies in hell. He needs others to feel the eternal torment that he has to encounter forever.
Fortunately, this is what Jesus has in place for us. Look at the last part of John 10:10... ` I (Jesus) came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
My Father is calling for you to TURN RIGHT. Make a "right turn" back to Him so that get back on the correct course of life. Follow his carefully coordinated plans for you life instead of choosing your own dangerously, risky path.
