07-20-2009, 5:35 PM 2b Joined on 12-28-2008 Posts 1 What Kind Of Leader Do You Have? My current pastor is more of a motivational speaker than a teacher. However, sometimes he seems to make himself a preacher just to stir up the gift. IDK - I moved here from another state and had a Teaching Pastor for 16 years and another Teaching Pastor for 9 years. I guess everyone has there gifts. However, I always needed my Bible in the other state. I rarely bring my Bible to church here. I'm not sure how I feel about it though, it's so different.    Report

Many Leader have gotten away from what God has called them to do, I do know that Power shifts in the atmosphare, and God is a progressing God. my Pastor teaches more then preach, but sometimes he just talks, I am praying that the Holy Spirits guides me to another home, but Pastor are a people that is after God own heart, I don't understand how man could put it upon there selves to think that the Ministry that they have belongs to them. IT'S GOD MINISTRY..but my Pastor is motivational at times.    Report

The Churh has to be built on the Stone which is Christ and his Word, and the same Jesus was very concerned because the people had no pastor to guide them. Our pastors must be leaders, friends and spiritual guides on our lifes, but having mega churchs don't let them have a close relation with all of the sheeps, perhaps leaders and older members. It is a reality everywhere and I don't think it is a good practice among the body of Christ.    Report

I do not attend a church to get emotional unless it's the working of the Holy Spirit. Thus, I don't seek out a motivational congregation/pastor. I want The Word. He teaches from KJV, but I love my NIV. I watch THE WORD T V a lot so I get many different styles of preaching. I don't do the "feel good" style of worship. God didn't create us to "feel good" about life. He created us to walk in His image. It's nuts and bolts type living. That is not to say we can't feel joyful, be happy, etc., but there is way more to it than that and we can't function without the guide book of our maker. That would be like buying an appliance and expecting it to do something it was not created to do.    Report
