I think what most of the people here wanted to tell you was be careful. You see I have helped thousands of relationships over a decade and I can tell you a couple of key points. If a person is more spiritual they will want to convert their spouse to be the same. If a spouse is more sexual love based they will want to convert their spouse to the same. This subject of being, "Equally Yoked" is one in which allows you to take the sting out of an otherwise beautiful relationship. I find most times but not in all cases your relationship start will be driven by whatever state you find yourself in when you meet someone. Good luck on your journey in finding your best mate. Also I hope you are enjoying the weather in Clarksville. With all the different dominations all saying they are christians, believe differently. My belief is that if we stay in prayer God will send you your mate who is or will be equally yoked with you. Speaking from experience just because they are christians does not automatically qualify as equally yoked. Now if we would follow true doctrine(which is the Word of God) and not man made doctrines and dominations then I would agree that being with any christian would qualify as being equally yoked    Report

I believe when we delight in His word he will give us the desires of our heart..knowing what is best for us in due season. It is so true that the traditons of men make our Father's word void. Amos 8:11 also tells us that God will send a famine in the land of hearing the word of God..can I get a witness?... When we differ as we will, the truth should strengthen our belief to be able to plant seeds in the simplicity of Christ Jesus and Godly sincerity the word of God or cause us to go back to the word to find out what the Lord is really saying..we will only find out through study, prayer and fasting...May our Father bless us to have ears to hear and eyes to see...amen    Report

We are called to be set apart from the world why bring the world into the marraige when God is the most important thing in the Marrige.    Report

Exactly god will send you your partner if you stay in prayer and they will be equally yoked with you....sometimes couples can start off unequally yoked and then later are converted by their spouse genteel nature...I know that CeCe Winans husband was not a part of the church we she married him and also the good Dr Frederick Price has mentioned that his wife was the spiritual one at first but he was won over by her conversation...look to I Corinthians 12-15 If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. Andthe the woman which hath an husband that beliveth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; else were your children unclean:but are now holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or sister is not under bondage in such cses: but God hath called us to peace. From my experiences, I think that christian  should date christian , because when yyou date someone who is a non believer, or believe in god but just don't bother to follow god's rules, you run into all kinds of problems with the relationship.In this time that we live in, the devil come to seek and destroy. I was in a relationship with a guy who i loved very much, He was my husband, I had just began to seek god and got saved,during the course of our relationship things started getting bad, the more I got deeper into the lord, the more problems I was having, it got to the point where i wanted my marriage real bad, and i turned my back on god. over the years of dealing with a bad relationship and not giving god any praises, things got rough until I had to turn to god and make some tough decisions, when dealing with a mate that's not a christian  it causes you to question God when things are not just working out or getting any better,that cause you to fall  and don't care about nothing just that person , and god said he is a jeaously god and not to put man or anything before him. The times we are living in now, christians should stick together and help  others  who want to be save and know god's love    Report

HOWEVER, BOTH INDIVIDUALS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO COME INTO A MUTUAL AGREEMENT BECAUSE THEY DON'T SHARE COMMON VISIONS. THAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH CHRISTIANS TODAY. THEY GO OUT OF GODS WILL TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE THAT'S NOT WALKING PARALLEL IN THE SPIRIT WITH THEM. THEREFORE, THEY WIND UP SPLITING. WE'RE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE UNEQUALLY YOKED ANYWAY. YOU'RE RIGHT SIR. LIGHT DOES NOT HAVE COMMUNION WITH DARKNESS. THE CHURCH TRY TO MIX IT. GOD IS A HOLY GOD, THEREFORE ANY RELATIONSHIP OR COMMUNION THAT YOU'RE GOING TO BE IN HAS TO BE HOLY IF THE SPIRIT OF GOD RESIDES IN US. MY QUESTION IS. WHEN I EXPERIENCED THESE THINGS, GOD HAD TO WAKE ME OUT OF MY SLUMBER. I DID NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE THAT IT WAS NOT OK TO BE MADE ONE WITH AN UNBELIEVER. IN CONCLUSION, WHEN TWO PEOPLE JOIN TOGETHER THEIR ONE. GOD CANNOT BE ONE WITH BAAL. SO THAT LEAVES ME TO SAY ARE YOU REALLY SAVED. 07-26-2009, 11:35 AM mikesmommy Joined on 07-26-2009 Posts 3 Re: Should christians date non-christians? when i was younger i didnt think it was important! well 7 years, a divorce, and a 3 year old later,.... i realize if my ex husband and i had both been believers we would have made it. most all of our fights were over porn, lies, and church. he didint and doesnt believe. its hard on me. we are trying to work things out for the child pretty much and it scares me to think my son may grow up not knowin god. i have to be the leader and its hard! i wouldnt give anything for my lil boy but if i could go back i would def make it a priority to find a honest loving christian man!!    Report

If you are a christian and you are dating someone who is not it can lead to alot of opposition on many situations.
