divorce is a last resort

The Bible only permits divorce in the case of adultery. I do think I would divorce if I had a physically abusive spouse, but I do not think that view matches with the Bible. At least, I have not read about it in the Bible.

My parents divorced when I was 16. I am the middle child. 2 brothers. It has been 5 years and no one in my family has healed from the pain of the divorce. My parents disagreed on some things, not really important things. They did not communicate well and after 23 years had quit trying. They still miss each other. And still tell us so. Sad, but I've said this to say, that people should work hard to keep their marriages. People work hard to buy cars, houses, to earn degrees, to protect and love their children. Peolple work and fight hard for everything. Why have people quit fighting for their marriages? I would say that a Godly marriage is more important than almost anything.

I agree, a Godly marriage is the most important. God has got to be at the apex of the triangle to hold it all together. People have got to be grounded and rooted in God's word and his will. Only with him will we have a successful, peaceful, loving, prosperous and joy filled marriage. So many people let others and the world dictate to them how their marriage is supposed to be. Put God first in your life and continue to seek him for all things not other people. And communication is very important in any relationship, people should always talk to their spouses concerning anything and take it to God together. People have got to realize that divorce affects more than the two who were married and it can damage more than it can help in many, many cases. Lastly I'd like to remind people that there is an enemy out there named satan who hates unity and will do anything he can to destroy your marriage, family, your life period, so you have got to stay connected to God because there is no getting through it successfully without him.
