Christianity Today to Slash 4 Publications, 30 Staff
from The Christian Post

Christianity Today International is closing four of its publications and laying off 30 employees, according to an announcement Friday.

Over the coming months, Today’s Christian Woman magazine, the Campus Life College Guide, the Christian history bulletin insert Glimpses, and the bimonthly newsletter Church Office Today.

"We find ourselves – as does our industry – in the midst of a perfect publishing storm," commented CTI President and Publisher Harold B. Smith in Friday’s announcement.

Though the organization is “profoundly saddened” by the “necessary decisions” and its impact on its employees and the Church as a whole, Smith said they are grateful to God for the continuing strength of their core periodicals – Christianity Today magazine and the Leadership journal.

“These iconic brands, along with the myriad web properties tied to them, will once again point the way for this ministry in the days, months, and years to come," the CTI head stated.

Founded in 1956 by world renowned evangelist Billy Graham, the ministry of Christianity Today has over the past several decades risen to become arguably the most trusted and influential source for information among Christian leaders and laity – adults, youth, and families.

The organization today publishes nine print magazines and newsletters and operates an award-winning website reaching more than 2.5-million unique visitors monthly.

At the annual convention of the Evangelical Press Association, the organization won a number of awards, including an Award of Excellence for the Leadership journal, an Award of Excellence for Ignite Your Faith magazine, four Awards of Merit, and fourteen “Higher Goals” awards – two of which were first place awards.

CTI’s stated mission is to create “Christian content that changes the people who change the world.”
