Rumors of War

Monday, July 24, 2006

The Bible tells us that in the last days we will hear of wars and rumors of war (Matthew 24:6), and we are certainly seeing a lot of that every time we turn on the television or go on the Web.  The current crisis in the Middle East is taking up most of the time and space on news programs and sites.  Many are fearful that this conflict will spread to engulf the entire Middle East and the rest of the world will get involved on either the side of the Israelis or of the Arabs.

We have started a forum in our Discussion Board on the Middle East crisis.  Click here to to go there and join the Discussion.

I did a Google search on the phrase "rumors of wars" and found page after page of opinion about the current events, but most of them just used the verse in Matthew 24 as a catchy phrase as a title for their story, then they go on to fret, worry or predict how this could or will result in the end of the world.  They didn't read the whole verse!  Here is what Matthew 24:6 says in it's entirety:

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

"But see to it that you are not alarmed."  God's Word tells us that we should not be alarmed by news of conflicts around the world.

Is this the beginning of World War III?  Maybe.  But God said such things must happen, but the end is still to come. God is in control!

The verse read: And you shall heare of wars and rumours of wars: see that you be not troubled: for al these thing must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

The only thing that we must do is ensure that you put all your faith in the lord. We all still have the time to enter the kingdom, so when that days comes to pass we will on be able to enter into the kingdom.

In Matthew 24:6 God is calling on us to do 3 things:

1) Be Prepared
The fact that the scripture says that the end is not yet, means God has blessed us with a little more time to turn from on own flesh driven ways and to come to Him and accept His way of life for us.
There is still work to be done. We can't get discouraged because of what is going on around us such as wars, poverty, crime, national misconduct. God said that this to shall come to pass and the end is not yet. These things will happen but not yet so lets focus on God, continue to do His Divine will and walk in His purpose for our lives.

2) Guard Our Temple
In times such as this many people are influenced by the media, television, friends, co-workers, church folk, but we have to be cautious of that. These very people will dirty up your mind and cause confusion. The Lord said in the earlier verses, "be not deceived". Many people will say that they heard the Lord tell them this, many people will proclaim that they are sent by God, many people will feed you all types of deceiving information in times like this but God wants us to protect our Spirit Man. Our Spirit Man will not dwell in an unclean temple, therefore don't dirty up your body, mind, Spirit and soul with the negative influences of this world.
Therefore, we must have on the Whole Armour of God that we be able to stand against the enemy.

3) Lastly God is calling on us to endure. There is always a blessing when we endure and go through with God. In the later verses of Matthew 24, God said that He would save those that endure to the end of these perilous times. God is our strength and comfort. He gives us peace and contentment no matter wat state we are in. "Don't grow weary in well doing for in due season you shall reap if you faint not." Galatians 6:9

Be Encouraged,

THE WORD OF GOD LET US KNOW IN EPHESIANS THAT WE MUST PUT THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD ON THAT WE MAY BE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE WILES OF THE devil.
WE AS BORN-AGAIN BELIEVERS MUST DO WHAT THE BIBLE SAY. IF WE KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT OF THE WORLD WE MUST STAY FOCUS ON THE THINGS OF GOD. WHILE KEEPING OUR MIND ON CHRIST WE KNOW THAT CHANGE WILL COME. THE enemy DESIRE IS TO KILL, STEAL, AND DESTROY EVERY BELIEVER OF GOD. BUT WE MUST BE MINDFUL OF THE devil tricks. AS LONG AS WE ARE FOCUS ON THE PRIZE THERE IS NO WEAPON THAT IS ABLE TO BLOCK WHAT GOD HAS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A GENUINE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
GOD BLESS.

hum, this interestin, see the lord said this things will happen. but hear this satan is trying to shift the focus here in the body of christ. wars and rumours of war , the lord said worry not when u hear of it. now this what the devil is using against the church this end times , "offence" my christians take this issue to be trivial , but many, if not careful are goin to miss the comin of the lord . why? "offence" matt 24:12. amongst the christiandom the love of many has wax cold, hatred ,unforgiveness, bitterness in the church, and many christians don,t seem to know this. and to me this are the real issues not what we hear and see, is us! may the lord bless the church!

I agree that fear is not of GOD and shouldn't be the driving factor in our lives. I however feel that many Christian Americans hide behind these scriptures as a way of avoiding the reality of current events. I don't believe GOD wants his people to sit happily and wait for the end like so many are doing, but instead encourages his leaders to get directly involved.

I agree 100% with what you've said, the rumors are satanic and media driven and from a biblical perspective are "much a do about nothing." It's the usual fare about ratings on the news to promote the satanic cause of FEAR and DOUBT in the world,BUT let's not forget 9/11 and what we are truely fighting against! Our enemies are NOT flesh & Blood,BUT work in the frame-work of the flesh to hide their motives from those who can do them the most damage-CHRISTIAN PRAYER WARRIORS need to be VIGALENT and alert to this deception, satan and his minons CAUSED 9/11 to happen. This should give the church pause, instead we go on as if it's a flesly battle our troops are fighting. They need much prayer every moment of every day to tear down the strongholds over the forces of terrorism in the world,we must begin to pray down from Heaven a CONFUSION OF MIND and an INABILITY TO PERFORM THEIR WAR ON AMERICA! The Church HAS THE POWER TO DEFEAT TERRORISM, why are we not doing it? With all the "FAITH PEOPLE on Earth now praying in unison against Terror, can you SEE TERRORIST'S GIVING UP ALL OVER THE WORLD? If you can't where's the FAITH MESSAGE LEFT US? You might be thinking,"It's not that simple,is it?" Well maybe not,BUT IT'S SURELY NOT THAT COMPLICATED EITHER,IS IT? Mark 11:22-26 HAS THE ANSWER AGAINST WHICH THERE IS NO FIGHT,"Have the God kind of FAITH,Believe it from the heart,SAY IT WITH TRUE CONVICTION;stand in God's FORGIVENESS and ALL ELSE MUST BOW BEFORE US..RIGHT?

I think the current situation could actually have a positive outcome, if people are suddenly researching the "rumours of war" phrase and find themselves fearful or alarmed then this in turn may turn thier heads back to the bible and the word of GOD, Have I been scared yes, have I considered not flying yes, but ultimaltley through prayer amd meditation GOD has spoken to me and said fear not for everything will be OK.

It is natrual for people to be scared or fearful but surely it is at times like this we should rejoice, because the lord is our protector and although times get rough and it is our natrual human instinct to wonder, we should rejoice in the current situation because GOD is jsut saying, see these things may be happening as I have said, nad yes they have happened before and yes they will happen again, but rejoice, and thanks the LORD for he is our protector, he is our guide and he will never let his children down

That is the important thing, not to be alarmed. Fear is not of God. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and of power, and a sound mind. We must pray for the Holy Spirit to show us what is the will of the Living God, the God that has an ever lasting covenant with Israel, with the Hebrew people. We must not be weary of doing good nor should we allow hatred or hardness of heart to come into our life. Overcome evil with good! Trust that the decisions that our leaders are making are in line with the will of God.
