Rev. Jerome A. Barber is Pastor of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton, Virginia. During his pastorate (1997- Present) Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple has grown from a membership of 300 to more than 5,000.  He is instrumental in establishing ministries in this local assembly that meet the needs of the community and the church at large.   He also serves as the President/CEO of Six House, Inc., a faith-based community organization.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Hampton Institute in 1981, graduating with high honors as a Distinguished Military Graduate.  He was conferred the Doctor of Divinity degree by the Eastern Theological Seminary during its 2001 commencement ceremony. Sparked by the death of his mother in 1993, he established Ark Builders, Inc., a nationwide community upliftment initiative designed to raise the quality of life by actively involving young people in their communities.
