I Want To Love

This week's topic: A Love For God's People

Many people want to love. We were created to love. Our Father is love (1 John 4:8). The problem is, we may not know how to love. What is our motive for love? Sometimes our love can be misguided. If you want to know how to love in truth, God will show you how. His love is patient and unconditional. He loves us even when we don't love Him back. Most of us won't tell another person we love them, because they didn't tell us, they love us first. On the other hand some of us vow to never say it again if the person didn't say it back. We can be so conditional. The fact is, God tell us in His Word to love one another (John 13:34-35).

Yet, we have problems with speaking to one another in our own churches. We will walk right pass the usher, sit down next to someone, and not have said a word to anyone. Paying tithes and smiling in the preacher and his family faces is not enough to cut it. God says to love everyone (Mark 12-31). God's love is not affiliated with clicks. His love doesn't care about your financial status. He created us in His image (Genesis 1:27). His image is love and kindness. It is time to come out of the four walls of the church and go into the four corners of the earth. Love the poor, love the needy, love the drunk, the addict, the lonely, the confused, and many others (Matthew 25:31-40). He said, if you take care of the poor, you will lack nothing (Proverbs 28:27). He also says if you seek His Kingdom first and His righteousness all things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). I believe God is saying take care of my business and I will take care of yours. His business is souls. How can you win some, if you don't have the love for His people? Check your love level. See what your level is and if it's low ask God to give you some of His. Believe me, He will. It's what He wants, it's His Will for your life.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
