How precious is Jesus to us? In this fast paced society that we all live in, it is so easy to forget or misplace what and Who is important, isn’t it? As I write this, I must first admit that I can surely let projects, obligations, responsibilities, and even ministry get in the way of my top priorities.
Dewayne and I had communion one night and I just asked The Lord to forgive me. I needed to tell The Lord that I was sorry for not being as close as I needed to be with Him. I asked Him to forgive me for being preoccupied with so many things and that I knew that I was not as close as I desired to be. Dewayne prayed and asked God to forgive Him for the same. I just cried before The Lord, for most of us know what it is like to love and not receive love back. And I had done this with The One Who loves me more than anyone, My Love, Jesus. I had not sinned against Him, I just sensed deeply that my closeness to Him and my relationship to Him needed to be closer. When I looked up the meaning of the word “CLOSE” I found other words that it describes. Close means DEAR, DEVOTED, EARNEST, FAITHFUL, FAMILIAR, IMPENETRABLE, INSEPARABLE, INTENSE, INTIMATE, LOVING, NEAR, NEAR-BY, SECLUDED, SECRET, SOLID, THICK, and TIGHT.
Upon seeing all the words that CLOSE means, as I ask myself this question, I ask you also, “How CLOSE are you to God?” Again, I am inquiring myself as I ask you this so intimate question. Am I and are you EARNEST in seeking Him and His Presence? Am I and are you so FAMILIAR with Jesus and His Ways, that He would describe us as IMPENETRABLE and INSEPARABLE to Him? Could He say that I and you are LOVING Him in such an INTENSE and INTIMATE way that He is overflowing with love and needs no more Ministry from me and you, for He is so full? Can The Lord testify that if He ever needs us that we are so NEAR Him, He would not have to look very far? Can I and can you say that we are habitually SECLUDED with our Love and so TIGHT with Him, that we are constantly found in the SECRET place? Are we allowing EVERYTHING else in this world to steal our attention, from The One Who has given us EVERYTHING? Let us all chew on these questions today and allow The Lord to show us where we are in our relationship with Him. You know, it is a good thing to ask ourselves every now and then that most important question, “Where’d I Put That?”
Scripture of the Day: “I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: . . .” - Song of Solomon 6:3
