A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert-like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man’s parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing. Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife would leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered. As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, “Why are you leaving your companion on the island?” “My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them,” the first man answered. “His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything.”

“You are mistaken!” the voice rebuked him. “He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.” “Tell me,” the first man asked the voice, “What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?” “He prayed that all your prayers be answered.”

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us. This is too good not to share. With obedience come blessings. My prayer for you today is that all your prayers are answered.

I like that, Praise GOD for the humor which is so true!!!  With prayer and obedience, I also believe there is nothing GOD wouldn’t come through and do for you.  I honestly believe that prayer changes things because it brings us into a deeper relationship with GOD.  GOD already knows our need before we ask like it says in Matthew 6, but He still wants us to come to Him seeking Him diligently with our faith, like it says in Hebrews 11:6.  I also truly believe we could have Heaven right here on earth if we would only fall in love with JESUS and trust and obey the Word.  GOD bless.

Lord, thank you for blessing us with the Fruit of the Spirit, so that we may be fruitful and multiply. Thank you for showing us how to have patience, understanding, know-how, wisdom, knowledge, peace, suffering, diligence, and most of all thank you for showing us how to have self-control. Thank you for making us fruitful and not barren. If for any reason Lord, we stray off from the path of righteousness give us a little boot and guide us back to the path of righteousness. This we ask in Jesus Christ’ precious name, Amen.

Dear Lord, I don’t want to plan if I know You’re asking for me to move. I want to listen for Your prompting and go where You say go. I don’t want to rely in preparation as my comfort but in You as my provider. Help me to put my faith in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Many times, in taking inventory of the blessings of God in our lives, we look at the external: what we see, what we feel, what we have. We fall into the devil’s age-old Garden tactic which shifts our focus on things we don’t have while blinding us to all that we do have. From the very beginning until now, Satan has used this very same strategy to depress, deplete, and frustrate many.

In spite of it all, I can truly declare “I am BLESSED!” My greatest blessing from God is HOPE. It sounds so simple, almost child-like, but nevertheless true.

In the messiness of life, whether it is in job and family situations, economical uncertainties and hardships, or life as a single mother, our HOPE in God tells us we are BLESSED.

    Give Glory to God! Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the capability to have faith. Thank You for Your promises. Continue to grow our faith in spite of our inability to understand and believe at times. I believe You are God and Your Spirit has changed me. I believe You and have Faith that the blood of Jesus has made me right with you forever. Amen

Heavenly Father, thank you for the tests and challenges you give us.  Thank you for giving us the strength to endure them and the opportunity to grow in spiritual maturity.  Please help us learn to trust you when we go through difficult times.  We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

God, we pray for all those who have suddenly lost employment. There are many. We ask you to first give them peace and a settled confidence. Their natural response is to shock and then fear, and to begin questioning their abilities, the past accomplishments and their future prospects. Give them your encouragement today, and do so through surprising ways, both directly from your Spirit and through other people who come across their path. Build them up, as this situation has torn them down. Remind them of past victories, and awaken new dreams for their future. Give them – today – divine appointments with people who may be key in opening a new future for them. Give them hope; lighten their step; lift the anxiety from their body; give them sleep and an unexpected joy. God, you intend us to have a purposeful life. You give us work assignments to accomplish because you designed us to help you create and sustain your creation. We are not made for idleness or sloth. We need meaningful work. So for all those including myself who have lost a job, today bring them one step closer to a new direction. Show them any areas in their own character that need to change in order for their destiny to be realized. Then give them the wisdom and power to make those changes, by your Spirit. Today is a new day with new possibilities. Let nothing stand in the way of your purposes in the lives of those who, without your assistance, cannot find their next course. We pray this in Jesus…Amen.

    Gracious Father,
Help me to live beyond the meager resources of my adequacies and learn that You are totally reliable. When I trust You completely, You constantly lead me into challenges and opportunities that are beyond my strength and experience. I know that in every circumstance You provide me with exactly what I need.

Looking back over my life, I know I could not have made it without Your intervention and inspiration. And when I settle back on a comfortable plateau of satisfaction, suddenly You press me to new levels of adventure, You are a disturber of false peace, the developer of dynamic character and the ever-present deliverer when I attempt what I could not do on my own. Sovereign of my Life, I trust You, the ultimate Ruler, Give me acute hindsight so I have 20/20 vision to see that You are at work in the shadowy realms of the ambiguous turn of events. I grow in confidence as I remember that You have sustained me at crucial times in my life. There is no panic in heaven; therefore, there can be peace in my soul in the midst of the human muddle of this uncertain time.

You have all the power. You alone are almighty and You are able to accomplish Your purposes and plans, Your rule and overrule. When circumstances bring me results that are painful, give me patience to wait on the resolution. Your intervening power is not limited: You are able to guide me about when and how to do what is best.

May this day in which I attempt something beyond my human adequacy and discover that You are able to provide the power to pull it off. Give me a fresh burst of excitement for the duties of this day so that I will be able to serve courageously. I will attempt great things for You and expect great things from You! Amen.

Dear Lord, forgive me when I do not sit and take summary of Your tremendous favor in my life. Your blessings are far superior to anything this world can give me. Help me to remember my place of thus far when Your plan for my life leads me to another season that may be risky and cause me to walk by faith and not by sight. I offer this praise of thanksgiving to You. In Jesus Name, Amen

We are told to cast our care on God. Whatever the load we bear we are to give it to him. If we give it to him we need to let him have it continually and permanently.

We give our burdens/cares to him continually as we have already said, continuing to pray over it. We give it to Him permanently. Although we talk to Him about it, we leave it in His hands to worry over. And of course, he will not worry. He’ll act in His time.

1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

As we cast our burdens upon the Lord, we must realize that God cares about us and what happens to us.

Psalm 55:22 - Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

If a baby is born very small, say 3 or 4 pounds, what will the hospital do? They will put that child in an incubator to sustain him until he is big enough to make it on his own. If a person has a serious accident or a heart attack or stroke, and are not able to function on their own, they very often are placed on life support. They are sustained by machines.

As a Christian, I can be confident because the living God has promised to sustain me no matter what my problem. As I bring my problem to God He takes care of me. And the Lord sustains me even when He doesn’t directly deliver me from the problem. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9

Lord, I praise You for Your Word which has the ability to transform every area of my life. Help me to devote myself to Your Word in ways that will enable me to experience its “superhuman power.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13 AMP) Thank You that as I let Your Word abide and take root in me, You will do “exceedingly abundantly” above all I dare ask or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)
