Don’t Miss The Launch Of Synergy!
Published: August 13, 2010
Synergy is the adult singles ministry of The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church which in Decatur, GA (E. Dewey Smith, Jr., Pastor/Teacher). Our goal is to connect believers to other like-minded believers. Synergy hosts events, gatherings, and offers programs wherein singles are grouped according to their age, area of town, and other preferences they specify so they are placed with people they are most likely to connect with.
These events, gatherings, and programs will help shrink a large church in a large city into a smaller community. It is our hope that here individuals will be able to connect with other like-minded people and establish meaningful, authentic friendships.
Over the next quarter, Synergy will focus on three areas of ministry: discipleship, fellowship, and ministry (service). These three areas of ministry will foster opportunities for the ministry to minister to its participants and for its participants to minister to others.
Our discipleship portion of ministry will consists of a 9 week program study entitled “Relate.” Relate is a Biblically-based training session which will teach singles how to enhance personal and spiritual relationships through the power of God’s word. Ultimately, this program seeks to prepare individuals to operate effectively in relationships before teaching them how to pursue them.
Our fellowships will consists of book clubs, game nights, karaoke nights, and other gatherings that will provide singles with an opportunity to foster community at their church. These fellowships will take place in different areas of town and individuals will be placed according to preferences they specify so, again, that they are placed in fellowships with individuals they are most likely to connect with.
Our ministry (service) portion of ministry will provide singles with the opportunity to not just go to church, but be the church. Through this program, singles will be provided with a chance to participate in a number of service projects in the Metro-Atlanta area. Whether it is feeding the homeless or building a house for a family in need, we truly believe that this portion of ministry will too help foster community.
The official launch of Synergy Singles Ministry will convene on Friday, September 3, 2010. We will launch the ministry with an “All White Affair” launch party at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center in Decatur. This evening will feature live music, fellowship, food, and more. We will also have a live performance by platinum selling recording artist Q. Parker of the group “112.” Tickets are $10 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.SynergyUnplugged.org.
